Times gone bye

Where better to visit when we were only a few miles away than The World of James Herriot in Thirsk. Probably one of the best known vets in the country, if not the world, Alf Wight wrote his James Herriot books a few years after we all qualified as vets so a group of us on our reunion descended on the museum and spent a while in this wonderful place which had been his practice.

Many of us worked in practices that had been established well before the days of James Herriot so the collection of old medicines and instruments were very familiar but lovely to see so well displayed.

It is not hard to see why this is one of the best small visitor attractions in England.
