fig

Laura and John sent us home with fresh figs from their tree tonight. In all truth, they sent us home with ambrosia.

Never have I held figs in such ripe readiness. Actually, I've never picked a fig prior to this evening. Dried ones? I've had a million. Fig Newtons? May as well own stock. But real, tree-ripe beauties? Oh! The softness, subtle furriness, tenderness!

It's a marvel to be just meeting them now! How many other simple pleasures will I get to learn in the years to come? May they all be as lovely as autumn harvested figs!.
