The Wreck -Damian Hirst

It’s the most talked about art exhibition in the world- and it cost over £50 million.
And it’s all-fake.

Yes its Damien Hirst much publicised The Wreck of the Deep launched this year in Venice in the Palazzo Grassi owned by billionaire Francois Pinault   who also happens to be an avid collector of Hirst’s work and a director of Sotheby’s.
OK do I sound cynical? Well I am.

This is art Hollywood style. He has constricted a mythology of a wreck complete with fake gold ingots.

Love it or hate it you can’t ignore it. I went with an open mind and came out feeling cheated.  Is this what £50 million invested by one man in an art exhibition looks like?

Yet there is no denying that  Damien Hirst has caught the zeitgeist of our age: fake news.  We prefer the fake story to the real one.

Written above the entrance to the exhibition are the following words:

“Somewhere between the lies and truth lies the truth”.
