Wild Wednesday - Deer

This image was taken over our back fence looking across the paddock to the trees and the river bank. I am not sure whether this is the mother or the foal as they are both about the same size nowadays. The foal was actually born and reared in the paddock this year but sightings were very rare as it only reared its head when the mother was there to feed it in the early evenings. It seemed strange to think that there was a wild animal lying in this field behind us which for the most part we could not see as the grasses are so high. Even in this image the animal the deer is hidden in the grasses.
