Whale watching

The splash you can see is a humpback whale calf, or its mother, plunging back into the sea after a spectacular, but way too fast, leap out of the sea.

It was so hard to photograph these huge swimmers, all the time thinking focus, horizon, subject.... no. After a few attempts, I sat back against the centre pod of the catarmarran, pulled my ever present knitting out of my pocket, and knitted whilst scanning the horizon for the next display of whale gymnastics. It was fabulous and the whales put on quite a show! At one point, we had 4 whales splashing around quite close to the boat.
