Remember This?

After our Carpenters concert on Friday, I had a notion to play some of their music, which we only had on a vinyl LP.  Are you old enough to remember these?!!

We've even kept our old Pioneer music centre, which was the bees knees when purchased about 40 years ago, though neither of us could remember the last time the turntable was used.  The CD player is the only function we use now!

It was no real surprise then, when the turntable refused to turn and further investigation revealed a perished turntable belt. TJ wanted to buy a new one online (cost about £8), but I knew I had a large elastic band that might work, so gave it a try.

Bingo!!  It worked a treat and we are now enjoying our Carpenters music and singing along at the tops of our voices:-)  Had forgotten what good sound the old system produced.

Moral  never throw away old technology - who knows when you might need it!
