Near Gondar

We took a ride about a half hour out of Gondar Sunday into the hills north of the city. The Chinese are assisting or sponsoring a huge road project connecting Gondar and Axum. After waiting out a downpour, we set out on the trail. The scenery was spectacular as we walked along clifftops thousands of feet above the valley bottoms.

Our goal was to locate a troupe of gelada baboons. Eventually we spotted them scampering around a very steep hillside across from us. (we have photos, but I can't post today because of tech limitations).

Satisfied and muddy after a two hour walk, we returned to Gondar.
