In Memory of the 384th Bomber Group

This beautiful stain glass window is in St James Church in the village of Grafton Underwood, Northamptonshire just a few doors down from my friend Marcel's house.

From May 1943 until June 1945 the 384th Bomber Group of the United States 8th Air Force were located out of RAF Grafton Underwood operating B-17 Flying Fortress squadrons.

The church window and memorial in the nearby location of the former airstrip commemorate all those airmen that lost their lives during the period.

Personal tributes from villagers were dotted around the church with black and white photographs and candles. It was quite moving and a privilege to see today.
