What a glorious day! S got up early and crept out of the house to stock up at the market. Then we headed to our favourite beach where we hired one of the beds -- an outrageous extravagance which costs as much as five sun loungers. But it's lovely: a wooden framework with a woven top and floaty curtains round three sides, with a view of the sea from the fourth. Inside is a king-sized mattress and some cushions. So you fling down a pile of towels and splurge on the mattress like beached whales.

Which we duly did. Some sleeping, some reading, a swim in the glorious silky blue water. Hicham the hard-working sunlounger attendant then delivered a generous Spanish G&T and a Martini on a tray with olives and crisps. After this we ate our picnic:
- seditious Catalan cava
- jamón (because Spain)
- tomato salad
- apple, avocado and walnut salad
- bread that was still warm when S bought it
- cheese with membrillo (because Spain)
- tropical fruit salad (locally grown mangoes...)

More talking, sleeping and reading, ice cream, more swimming -- the water really was glorious, utterly calm and just the right temperature. We reluctantly dragged ourselves away at seven o'clock. We saw three cabramontes as we drove up the track to the road. This is my favourite beach of all time except for the ones in the Seychelles.
