If you can't beat them...

Solace Day 7.

The search for the lost winding hole!   We needed to turn round early today and "the charts"  (Nicholsons Waterways guide Book 3)  had a winding hole marked much sooner than it actually was.  At this stage we were worrying we weren't going to get turned.

Ahead the cottage is beside Cudworth Bottom Lock.  Had there not been a winding hole between us and the lock we would have been committed to going down (and back up again) 11 locks and covering about 6 miles.  Pretty much a days cruise!

Fortunately about a hundred yards before the lock was a winding hole about a third of a mile away from where the guide marked it.  So we turned and pottered along to moor near Streethay ready to be at the boatyard for 8:30 in the morning.
