The way we were.......

In 1864, the Peebles Railway Company opened what was known as "Peebles 2nd site".    Yes, Peebles had more than one railway station.  The main road to Edinburgh, the A703, now runs through what was the station (which had extensive goods sidings attached.)

The goods yard is now a large car park, and once a week becomes the town market.   All that remains of the large railway site is the goods office and the weigh office.

The station closed on the 5th of February 1962.
