Autumn migration

After our extended sojourn in the Ardeche, today we locked up and headed north. A beautiful Autumnal morning where one felt one could almost touch the Alps on the other side of the Rhone Valley. Mont Ventoux also  rose above the clouds.
We headed north slowly on back roads rather than peage and took in a few pretty villages - Les Plus Beaux Villages de France is our bib le when looking for these villages.
We ended up in Semur-en-Auxois, a stunning small town which in Britain would be a huge tourist trap whilst in France it is just one of many such villages. Dinner - where every course included the local cheese in one form or another - was spent talking to the American couple next to us. Genial enough.
