The last drying day?

We had to go into town this morning to pick up lots of groceries to feed the group who are coming tomorrow for a 5-day programme at our home. I always want to get seasonal veg, but supermarkets seem to have persuaded us to forget that different veg taste best at different times of the year. There was just a sad little notice saying "we're sorry our tomatoes, peppers and potatoes are suffering from the weather". Autumn veg is lovely though - all those pumpkins, marrows, squashes and other root veg to enjoy. The first baby brussels sprouts beginning to arrive. It was a joy to choose things that will make delicious soups and stews for our participants.

My favourite, though, is my famous "Fife Onion Soup", which is a bit like French Onion soup but made with a vegetable stock rather than beef stock. It's so easy, looks amazing, and can fill people up with with lots of tiny croutons or one huge one per person, covered with delicious melting cheese (the crouton, not the person!).

Looking forward also to P's delicious home-made bread, and the world-famous Thornbank chocolate brownies (a picture of which once got 100,000 hits on Twitter!) I think the next few days may well be a series of food-related blips.

After the lovely comments I got a couple of days ago about my miniature golfers, I spotted today's opportunity to capture a miniature Kara (and P, if you look carefully enough).
