The Tail End of a School Trip

In years to come,
if any of them visit here again,
when they are much older,
when their once young and agile brains
retain facts less well,
when they find they forget names,
and places, too easily,
will they recall walking up a road
that flowed against them
like a river
as their fluorescent jackets
shone out
and their teacher …who was called?
…hurried them on
and lines…oh what is that word
I’m searching for?...blurred.
