Steam Hammer

I drove back home yesterday and stopped at Telford Services on  the M54 where this impressive steam hammer from 1917 sits above the car park. It was invented by James Nasmyth in 1839 for forging iron ingots. It's a good advert for the Ironbridge Museums close by that celebrates the beginning of the Industrial Revolution at Coalbrookdale.
