The Moai

A little adventure with the three Charlottes, Kenny and Tom. We drove to Fortescue Bay and then walked around the bay to the headland. Here, we got our first glimpse of The Moai, a 30m vertical sea stack. At this point, Charlotte and I both thought "Christ, what have we got ourselves into!?" but that thought could only last so long as we descended 50m to the base of the cliffs - which we'd have to climb back up as well.
Charlotte went first, and since your back is to the sea when climbing, had little help or encouragement from the rest of us. She just got on with it.
Next I went, in my trainers, and began climbing. Climbing is an exaggeration, what happened was Tom basically hauled me up the entire way. Eventually I joined them on the top and waited only a couple of mins for Charlotte and Kenny to join us, where we took a photo and abseiled off. A couple of pitches up the cliff later we walked back to camp, where Charlotte #3 was getting a little worried as it was well past sunset. An awesome inspirational day and can't wait to do some more!
