scars

I didn't notice the scrape on the face of this squirrel until I enlarged the photo (and got new glasses this afternoon!). Add the fact that it was posing in front of a scar on the tree, it all got me to thinking about scars.
We've all got them, some more visible than others, some internal and some external. All of our scars have involved pain of some sort, a physical or emotional wound that we have lived through. And so scars are a sign of life, of perserverence through adversity, almost a badge of courage. And yet most of us want to cover or hide our scars so we can project a facade of perfection. I do not want to live in an airbrushed world, I want to feel at home with scars, mine included.
