Glamis Castle

L and I first visited Glamis in July but the queue for a castle tour was so great that we decided to spend our time in the grounds and visit again at a later date ..... and that was today.

Our guide was excellent and shared with us her extensive knowledge of the history of the castle. The castle was the childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, best known as the Queen Mother.

Walking in the Pinetum we saw plenty of fungi growing around the trunks of the trees and also among the dead vegetation on the grass. The first extra is a Parasol Mushroom (I think) and the second is the unmistakable  Fly Agaric. I always think of the latter as the Brownie Toadstool.
