Makinson Arcade

A day of all kinds of weather from beautiful blue skies to torrential rain. A lunchtime wander took me to the elaborate Victorian Arcade built by tea merchant Richard Makinson in 1898. This is one of the original stained glass fan-lights at each end of the arcade, which I think is rather lovely.

This is how it looked in 1913 decked out to celebrate a visit by George V.
