Newcastle Downunder

The holiday begins

Today has seemed endless.  I left mum's at about 7.45 am, drove to Gill's.  Met her and Gail there and we all got a taxi into the airport.   Hooray it is raining.  At last and I hope it keeps it up.  We met John in the lounge and then Barry and Peter and then we were all together.  Unfortunately the plane was late in and nearly three hours late leaving in the end.  We arrived in Santiago before we left Sydney so have had to do Friday afternoon  all over again.

This was the view out the window when coming in to Santiago.  The Andes are really spectacular.  I was surprised at the size of the city.  The hotel is very modern and in a great area.  We mainly rested this afternoon and then went out for a bite to eat and a pisco sour as you do.  I suspect a lot of pisco sours will be consumed before we leave.  The extra is the six of us near the mural across the road from the hotel.

We are doing a city tour tomorrow and I am looking forward to it.  This place has a very good feel to it.
