Bullrushes

Seem to be pretty much back to normal after yesterday's indisposition, thank goodness. Maybe the medicinal brandy followed by a good night's sleep helped?!

Off to Alnwick this morning to do a supermarket shop, stopping on the way at Branton Lakes for a short walk with Louie. Storm Brian may be raging in Ireland, Wales and the south of England, but he hasn't reached us yet, and it was quite mild and still as we walked. Still plenty of nasty little midges about. Lots of bullrushes by the lake - I can remember a time (the '60 or '70s?) when it was very 'cool' to have plastic bullrushes decorating one's living room...

Fruit scone (for me) and Victoria sandwich (for MrM) and tea at the specialist tea shop in Alnwick in lieu of lunch, and a potter round the market in search of russet apples (success!) before heading for home. Spent a couple of hours working in the courtyard in the afternoon, while MrM went on squirrel duties and took Louie for another walk.
