An Ipswich Marsh

We're in Ipswich, Massachusetts (not in England). This is a view just outside the entrance to Crane Beach--a four-mile long stretch of white sand that is the most wonderful beach I have ever experienced.

Today was the absolute opposite of a summer beach day--misty with light rain, and so we did not pay to park and walk on the beach. It's all along the ocean north of Boston and Rockport where we stayed last night. The view is worth viewing large. The marshes echo those in many paintings by the American artist Martin Johnson Heade (1819-1904, such as this one.
