La vie quotidienne

Apologies to all of those who were still expecting daily updates - now that my life in France has settled into a comfortable routine, exciting daily happenings which are worth writing down are harder to come by. Fear not though, the weekend is approaching!

In honour of my domestication, here's a photo of my local hypermarché, Auchan. The town is spoiled for choice when it comes to gigantic, ugly supermarkets - 40,000 citizens can choose between Monoprix, Auchan, Intermarché, Carrefour, Lidl and two E.Leclerc store, all of which are fairly substantial. The Auchan is by far the biggest though - it literally stretches for as far as the eye can see.

You have to buy plastic bags here, so I have instead invested in an Auchan "bag for life." Yay capitalism!
