Oh! Were I But The Morning Bright

I have relied on the rich source of my grandmother's autograph album before and turn to it today for MonoMonday "Music"

Tucked away in the last page of the book is this little sheet music.
It appears to be totally hand drawn; the clefs and notes showing tiny inaccuracies at times.

No amount of Internet searching has thrown up anything about the composer or the lyrics.

The lines read as follows

"Oh! Were I But The Morning Bright"
Words and Music by W.L. Jode

Oh! Were I but the morn...ing bright
To turn night's shadows in to day
I'd haste to thee in beams of light
and kiss and kiss.......and kiss
the veil of sleep away!

Really Grandmama, who is this man?
