Late Afternoon Sun Through Leaves

This morning wasn't easy.  But at the moment no morning is.

I have a few people who have figured out that I'm at work early and they can get pretty good help if they get in early enough.  And so I find myself scrabbling around sorting things at 7 in the morning.  But I have learned to multi-task insofar as I can now drink my tea as I read and correct code.

My worklife is exactly as exciting as you think it isn't.

And then this afternoon I had my interim review. 

I loathed these in Scotland. 

I don't mind them here at all. I'm happy to accept constructive criticism, I'm happy to engage with a company that I think actually wants to help me advance. 

And it was satisfying to hear that despite being left alone to do the work of 2, the feedback from across my division has been really positive.  Not just that I'm willing to help, but that I help and get things done really quickly.  This has surprised more than a few people, apparently.  They had thought that the departure of my colleague would have meant that things would have gone downhill, but it hasn't.

It's good to end the day on a positive note.
