CRUISE (3): Katakolon and Olympia, Greece

OLYMPIA is an ancient site on Greece's Peloponnese peninsula that hosted the original Olympic Games, founded in the 8th century B.C. Its extensive ruins include athletic training areas.

It was really hot here and we walked all around the ruins with a bottle of water to cool us down.

An organized bus took us from the port in Katakolon to the site of Olympia.

Olympia was an ancient Greek sanctuary site dedicated to the worship of Zeus, in whose honour Pan-Hellenic Games were held every four years from 776 BCE to 393 CE. ... The Kronion hill at the site was perhaps the first place of worship, dedicated to Kronos.

Quite an interesting visit.
