Two little ladybirds sitting in a tree...

There are lots of ladybirds around at the moment, in Myrtle Park at any rate. Is it a funny time of year for there to be so many?

I've just been reading about Harlequins (all sounds a bit worrying and grim!) and wondering if that's what they were. I find it hard to distinguish the different types.
