I reckon I've had this hat for twenty-seven years and to be fair it looks it. First issued as one of six to a crack band of anglers with the moniker "Phoenix Purple" (more colloquially known at the Purple Helmets) and subsequently worn as a mark of true against-the-odds piscatorial endeavour. It was dug out again today for the first time in seven years and worn for a day's piscatorial endeavour with one of the other original six.
You know what they say about a bad day's fishing; well this wasn't. It was great. And that Purple Helmet won't be staying away for another seven years. That's for sure.
