Gifts from friends

This tiny bouquet left with a meal on the front porch.
Prayers and meditations.
Kind wishes.
Cards, floral deliveries.
Texts, phone calls.
Many offers, “What can I do?” “How can I help?”
So many gifts, each one held, appreciated, received.

This poem was written by our friend Alberto, chair of the Commission on Hispanic Affairs for the State of Oregon, poet and photographer.

It is possible
It is possible
I have invented God
Like an orphaned child
Invents an absent father
Who could blame us
For such a fanciful invention
Who could blame us for wanting simply
To be so loved...
