It will really have been a short stay: we drove at midday to go to J's Dad's, as we wanted to see him in the hospital and we learnt in the morning that he was due to come out on Friday.

We did see him, much better than he had been the days before. He has appointments scheduled in the weeks to come to go to the bottom of the matter (they haven't been able to tell him what exactly has been going on with him that led to his hospitalisation...) but they do think he's well enough to go back home. Julie will be staying with him after the weekend so that he's not alone at home, though. I have to go back because of the theatre rehearsals - otherwise I would stay too.
