Afterglow

Today was spent recording the flora of some ditches east of Peterborough, a long walk round a rather flat landscape in perfect autumn weather. The good conditions helped to reduce the amount of time normally taken so we were home by mid-afternoon.

About an hour before dusk the cloud formations became particularly interesting, and included some areas of iridescent cloud, with purple and green patterning (see extra). I thought there might be a good sunset so headed over to Ferry Meadows, but, rather disappointingly, the clouds  largely disappeared and the sunset itself was pleasant but unspectacular.  However, the afterglow was really quite special, with some almost translucent pink and apricot shades.
