Unusual clouds

A blustery night which calmed in the morning and then picked up again but not as bad as we thought it was going to be.
The clouds were really unusual,Undulatus asperatus clouds apparently, caused by 'turbulent air' making the clouds look like waves across the sky. These are newly discovered clouds similar to mammatus clouds but formed in a slightly different way according to Graeme Anderson from Reading Uni.High level winds shape vapour into waves and swirls. The president of the UK-based Cloud Appreciation Society 'has his own theory' saying ' It's warmer moister air above and colder, drier air below, with an abrupt boundary in between. When wind passing over rolling terrain is added to the mix  you get the same wavy effect as on the surface of the water'.Who knew so much was going on up there ;)
