RSL 1654

What an end to a distinguished career. RSL (Range Safety Launch) 1654 was part of the 1151 Marine Craft Unit based at Marsaxlokk, Malta. This unit was responsible for saving many people lives of all nationalities around that area of the Mediterranean Sea.
Since the British pulled out, September 1978, this launch must have been sat there slowly rotting away. I don't know if she was used at all after we left but I hope to be able to find out through my Maltese contact.
It would be terrific if I could find a heritage group that could restore her, not to seaworthiness as she is way beyond that but at least to look as she did and be mounted in Marsaxlokk as a monument to the Marine Craft crews.

By the way, the x is pronounced sh so it's Marsashlokk.
