Snow Down Under

A CLEMATIS CONUNDRUM:

Four years ago I noticed a seedling clematis coming up through a low growing, about a two feet high, rhodo. I knew I hadn’t planted it but decided to watch it grow. Well it took on extra legs & now completely covers the Rhodo ! It is NOT like any clematis I grow & is a complete mystery as to where the seed has come from. It is definitely a double & very floriferous. I have looked up my clematis book & to me, it is very like C. Proteus, which they say is very vigorous. This certainly is, cos it covers the entire rhododendron. I wish I knew a hybridiser who could take cuttings & establish a new species. I would call it Snow Sensation, because that is just what it is !
