A Picture of the Cosmos

This was one of two Cosmos bipinnatus plants I bought as seedlings from a local Horticultural Society stall at the start of May.

One quickly got eaten by something in our back garden; this one survived and put on some vegetative growth but showed no signs of any flower buds developing until well into the autumn.

And now it has flowered: hence I was able to tell Mrs Catspaw this afternoon (with a nod to Carl Sagan) that I was just going out into the back garden to take a photograph of the Cosmos...
