The Gallery

The Gallery at Chateau Chenonceau.

We arrived early, thinking that things might be quiet on a Monday morning, first thing. No such luck. Not only is it the half term holidays but Chenonceau is the second most visited site in France, after Versailles. I wondered why but after my visit I am wiser as to its place in History.

Today I stood in Catherine de Medici's bedroom. Imagine!

Not only that, George Sand lived here too.

Unlike such establishments in the UK, dogs are allowed in to the premises. In fact you are encouraged to take your dog around the grounds instead of leaving them in the car, though precedence is to be given to the resident cat...

Similarly, unlike in the UK, cameras are permitted too. Though not flash. so I have many shaky images and not many worth sharing. This is the Gallery in that portion of the building built over the river Cher.

We bid Au Revoir to La Loire this morning but we shall return one day and travel to her source. For now we head southward and not a moment too soon as this morning the air temperature was down to 5 degrees Celsius, Tonight we are in Montrichard.
