Ghost Sign

Ghost signs are old, hand painted signs that have somehow survived the ravages of time and renovation.
There are quite a few around Katoomba, on the shops behind the main drag.

I ran into Mr and Mrs Hobbs and we had such a long conversation in the Coles carpark that we eventually went for a stroll around Katoomba.

I'm a big fan of Vanessa Berry, who has quite a collection of ghost signs.
She has a wonderful site, which you can spend hours getting lost in, if you're a Sydneysider and that's your bag.
She has an abiding interest in all things Sydney, particularly the old, the quirky and things that are going or gone.
Ticks all my nostalgia buttons.
