Where the Light Gets In

Menhirs - literally high or raised stones - are plentiful in Britanny. This one is situated in the countryside close to J's dad's home.

This one made me think of a veiled or cloaked woman with her arms crossed in her bosom. By the sea, she could have been a sailor's wife waiting for her hunsband's return. Here, in the middle of a field, I imagine her giving a silent prayer to the sun, as local inhabitants must have done before Britanny was christianised in the 5th century.
