Autumn

Funny how something that changes as gradually as the transition from summer to autumn can catch you by surprise. Walking - i.e. catching up on my steps - is no longer so easy or pleasant in the evening as, suddenly (it seems to me), it's getting dark earlier, and it'll be worse after the clocks go back this weekend.

I think the sunset was just before six o'clock, today, and this was the view out over Fairgarth and, in the distance, Barbon, at twenty past six. Still light, smoke rising from the chimneys over open fires, a lovely chill in the air, slight enough to be countered by a jumper.
