Día De Los Muertos Parade

We were invited to a parade in celebration of Día de los Muertos this evening. The La Madera neighborhood is famous for its Guadalupe celebrations at Christmas time, but they also put on quite an event around Halloween as well. A group of residents marched from the edge of the hill to the small cemetery about a half mile away. Many were dressed in traditional costumes, like these young women shown here, or as catrinas, the elaborately painted skeleton faces so prominently featured in Mexico Cities more famous parade. A performance followed the parade, but I knew I had already captured my blip image for the day, so I didn't even try to compete with the dozens of other phone wielding photographers.
