A night of awards

Tonite our city organized the 'Peerless Awards' ceremony, where various housing projects are recognized for contributing to the beautification of the city. The awards range from renovation to landscaping to preserving historical landmarks to new notable constructions.

Our house won in the latter category and here we are, receiving our flowers and certificate :)

Here's what the certificate says:
"Peerless Rockville awards Bill and Michele for the construction of their new home, which beautifully evokes the essence of, but does not copy, Frank Lloyd Wright's innovative Prairie Style of homes of approximately 100 years ago. The house has the bold drama, excellent design, and strong sense of openness that FLW houses are known for.

The Ean's original design respects the sense of place of the home's setting, understands in an emotional and organic way -- rather than a bookish or academic way, what made FLW houses architectural masterpieces and distills this understanding into the project.  This home fits seamlessly into the existing streetscape of the community and re-interprets FLW's design triumphs and architectural features to create a modern masterpiece."

We are pretty pleased and yes, basking in a bit of temporary glory ;)
