Marton Mere

The better weather arrived this morning and we found a local Nature Reserve to have a good walk round on well maintained pathways. Saw loads of geese and ducks on the Mere and Tits of all kinds, Chaffinch, Robin and squirrels on the bird feeders from one of the hides.

We stopped off at a local pub on the way back to the caravan for a pint of the local brew. The pub was really nice but lacked a fire - the nights are drawing in so fast now and it was a bit chilly in there. Just made it back to Matilda when the heavens opened and it rained buckets and stair rods for the rest of the evening and it sounded like most of the night from inside Matilda. Very bad luck for any Bonfire parties and probably my #1 daughter who is on the Isle of Skye with her two children who have taken her there to celebrate her 50th Birthday with the hope of seeing the Northern Lights???
