'Gwen'

Phormium tenax, the New Zealand flax.
I planted it some long time ago, presumably as a small decorative feature at the corner of the border.
Hmmmm.
Rob regularly tells me that he hates it. It pokes him in the eye when he manoeuvres the lawn mower too close and it's ugly and useless. Its only redeeming feature is that it flowers late summer and is attractive to bees and wasps.
I think it is statuesque! Also it whispers at you when you walk past. And you can weave it into useful things.
Today, Rob told me that he has "started addressing it as 'Gwen'".
This was my mothers name. He did not elaborate but it has now been christened forever!
