The piers of St Andrews.

The stonework of the Cross Pier stands out well on the left of the photograph, the Long (North) Pier in the background and the concrete groyne in the right foreground. Many University students, wearing their iconic red gowns, undertake the Pier Walk on Sunday. By tradition they walk out on the lower pavement of the Long Pier, with the brave coming back on the high narrow spine and upper level.
There's a good St Andrews Harbour Trust website, within it is a historical account of the harbour.
