Parasurfing

I have the feeling this will be a blip that astounds some people. I know I spend a lot of time on my blips showing the different side of China but there is a regular side too. I don;t think people expect that Chinese get involved with things like parasurfing but these guys were REALLY good.

Today was ummm... interesting. After a really good adventure with a tour group we decided to go to Wuzhizhou Island with another group. THe premise was that a bus would take us to where the ferries are to take us to the island and then we could do our thing on the island and come back. So we were up early and crossed the street to wait for the bus.

The 2 hour ride there was uneventful and when we arrived we were faced with a 2 and a half hour wait to get on the ferry. Tempers flared in the line ahed of us and a fight broke out between two ladies. Fun to watch!! (Guys love a chickfight) Once on the island, the guide took us to where they were selling all the various activities such as the ones we'd seen already on the beach. The only extra one they had was a super duper power boat. The price was a little steep and we were thinking of going on it but when we found out they charged to look after your valuables while you were on the boat we gave it a miss. A much needed bathroom stop resulted in another 45 minutes wait in line which was a tad annoying. After that we just walked around the island which was, in fact, very beautiful

We had seen the beach on the mainland side of the journey so we decided to catch an early boat back and go for a walk along that beach too. That's where we spotted the parasurfers. Man, can those guy move in a nice strong wind.

We waited at the appointed time for the tour guide and the bus driver. We were told in no uncertain terms that if we were late for the 5:50 deadline to be back, we would be left behind. The driver and guide must have forgotten what time they told us because they were late. When they did arrive, they asked who was going to a certain stop (which we and a few others were). He then told us OUR bus wasn't stopping at our stop and so we were to travel on another bus. THAT group hadn't arrived back and he didn't know what time they would, but before we could really protest, our bus took off. There were nine of us left feeling like we'd be stranded.

WHen the tour guide for our new bus arrived and counted us, she announced that she only had room for 6. we harassed the driver and he let us on the bus and none of us were moving. In the end, everyone fit on the bus and no one was left sitting.

We revisited an earlier restaurant for a GREAT dinner of a couple of different types of shells and decided that we'd return there on Sunday night for one more lovely fish dinner.
