Another Little Tragedy

For more than a week a song thrush fledgling has been making a racket around my house. While it was supposed to be hiding it continually cried out, demanding to be fed. At least one parent attended to it, but much of the time it was on its own. I became accustomed to backing off when I found it in my path, not wanting to alarm the chick. It was very curious, exploring the veranda, and one time coming right inside the house. I felt it was constantly near me and I developed an affection for it. But sadly, since I found this little body outside my gate I haven’t heard the familiar cry.
