Another bit of progress

When we built the terrace up around the oak tree the intention was to use it for al fresco dining.  But we never actually carry the food that far.  Maybe next year.

Last year, when we were in the Peak District, there was a local Open Gardens event.  One garden in particular - which happened to feature in my blip - inspired us to consider how we could improve the terrace by putting a flower bed around the edge.

So that is what we have done.  A couple of weeks ago, our "man who does" dug up the grass for us, and today W has edged it, and planted up some shrubs and some herbaceous plants.  We have large numbers of bulbs, in particular some showy Alliums, which will be added later this week.

I had to take a photo before today's work was quite finished, because I saw the sun just catching our oak tree, and the trees across the field.
