horns of wilmington's cow

Lovely day for a stroll on the beach, even more so given the October temperatures seemed to have put most folk off. Spent ages pottering around the rockpools (including a long time watching loads of teeny Hermit Crabs getting antsy with each other). And red was the colour with wildlife not really showing much, but a lovely Red Throated Loon (quite a distance off shore), and a one-legged Redshank.

Anyway, to the morning, and remember these fox cubs? Well it looks like at least two of them have made it into adolescence. First sighting of the foxes in a while at this spot as the undergrowth had overgrown but has started dying back a little again - giving this one single sunspot to see them.

After that there was a cheese and fish mission to supply a grazing dinner tonight, and once home form the beach letting the chooks free range. They still, after all the years keeping them, give me a laugh as you watch them go about their business. None more so than Skye today, going all punk with a post-dustbath shake.

Well. That was a very 'by numbers' resumé of the day wasn't it? I'll try to be more entertaining tomorrow!
