Kelvin Hall

The Kelvin Hall.

Original use of this iconic building was to house large scale exhibitions and it was built in 1925.

Interestingly, the present building is actually the second structure to bear the name Kelvin Hall, the first one was destroyed by fire.

For me, I remember the place as a kid when it housed the annual Christmas/New Year carnival (now at the SECC) and it provided seasonal employment for my father (who was a joiner).

More recently it was used as a venue for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games before it closed for a refurbishment programme which is clearly ongoing.
