The Edge of the Wold

Arnside Tower

We live in the afternoon shadow of Arnside Knott, and it is not always apparent at home what is happening in the west as the sun begins to set.  It had been a cloudy afternoon, and we set out with the intention of walking to Silverdale Moss to watch the starling murmuration again. However, as we crossed the fields next to the railway line and emerged from the Knott's shadow, the cows there were grazing in bright sunshine. I was diverted into watching the sun go down behind the tumbledown Arnside Tower, and by the time I moved on it was getting dark and I never did reach Silverdale Moss. I've had an idea for a blip from here for a while, this isn't it, but it was an impressive sunset - see also the Extra.

Otherwise the main event of the day was a trip to the dentist in the morning, the second in the last fortnight. The caverns opened up by fillings falling out of my molars have now been infilled.
